About Pastor Jeff
Rev. Dr. Jeffrey D. Hutchinson - or Jeff, as he would MUCH prefer to be called, was called by Living Hope as Assistant Pastor for Church Planting in 2022, planting House of Mercy in New Haven, CT.  Jeff was born in Cambridge, MA, and raised in SC, CA, and Bethesda, MD, while spending his Summers at his grandparents’ house in Connecticut. An Eagle Scout, he attended Duke University on a Navy ROTC Scholarship. Raised in the Episcopal Church by loving and godly parents, it was at Duke that he came to an assurance of Christ’s love for him, brought into a personal relationship with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It was also at Duke that he met his wonderful wife, Troy. They have been married for 33 years and together have three children, Hunter (a Masters student at Johns Hopkins University), Claire (a Senior at Duke University), and Joseph (a Freshman at RPI).

After service as a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy, Jeff was called to the ministry of the gospel, and has served as a campus minister in Florida and as a Presbyterian pastor in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut for more than twenty-five years, including 2016-2021 as the Coordinator of Development for a church planting network that helped to plant two dozen churches in Connecticut and around the world. Jeff would love to connect about the new church plant in New Haven so feel free to reach out any time!
